UV Angel comes to Australia and New Zealand
Businesses and aged-care facilities in Australia and New Zealand will be able to operate with improved safety, following a collaboration between healthcare procurement and technology company HPA and US company UV Angel.
The collaboration will see HPA bring the UV Angel Clean Air system to the region — a technological innovation that is critically relevant to the current COVID-19 pandemic.
The solution uses UV-C spectrum light to safely and efficiently treat potentially contaminated air and eliminate airborne pathogens.
HPA is expanding deployment from healthcare facilities, to assist businesses and the community to get back to normal in a healthier and safer way.
Ultraviolet light is widely deployed in a variety of formats as an effective sterilising solution in healthcare facilities and workspaces. The most common expression of this technology utilises UV-C light, which has a comparatively short wavelength that makes it ideal for penetrating microbial protective barriers.
UV-C light disrupts the delicate DNA/RNA structures, neutralising the affected pathogens. UV Angel Clean Air is the result of years of research and development in ultraviolet light and IoT-enabled technologies.
The system works as follows: Room air is quietly and continuously drawn into a sealed UV-C treatment chamber. High-intensity UV-C light is used to neutralise airborne pathogens.
Treated air is returned to the room, creating a safer environment. IoT connectivity allows control and integration into the facility’s technology stack.
“Businesses and the community as a whole require immediate support from new technology solutions now more than ever, in light of continuing risk emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic,” HPA Managing Director Shawn Wigham said.
“Our partnership with UV Angel allows aged-care facilities, offices, workspaces, government buildings and any organisation with public spaces to access a new and uniquely effective tool to better manage safety and health, for residents, employees and visitors.”
“UV Angel is proud to be partnering with HPA as the distributor of our products in Australia,” UV Angel CEO Tom Byrne said. “It is critical to understand that people are the major source of contamination and disease transmission.
The recent pandemic continues to highlight the need to add engineered source-level controls at the point where contamination is occurring. Our technology has been specifically designed as an engineered source-level control system, operating independent of the other infection control measures, right at the room level within occupied spaces.
“We are excited to expand our offering locally with HPA and support the wellbeing of a number of key sectors, including healthcare, hospitality and commercial businesses.”
