Adjunct Associate Professor Peter Shine is a Gadigal/Gomeroi man. He is currently the Executive Director of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health & Workforce Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD). He wrote the first and second NSLHD Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health Services Plan 2013-2016 for NSLHD www.nslhd.health.nsw.gov.au. He is the first Aboriginal Senior Executive at NSLHD, and the first to appoint an Aboriginal &Torres Strait Islander Workforce Manager to sit within his portfolio. Peter’s professional specialities are Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Social Emotional Well Being, The Social Determinants of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Health, The Social Determinants of Health and Health Promotion. He is a strong advocate for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander health equity for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander peoples and dismantling Institutional and individual racism & homophobia from all societies. Peter is married to Jo, a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. They have three adult children and five grandchildren. He enjoys his vegetable garden, painting, playing the piano and the guitar and songwriting
